Waterford Healthy Cities Initiative is part of a World Health Organization (WHO) initiative with over 80 other cities in Europe.

The aim of the initiative is to enhance the health of the city, its environment and people through all groups and agencies working together.

Waterford City became a member of the WHO European Network of Healthy Cities in December 2010.
